Raekwon, born Corey Woods on January 12, 1970, is an American rapper and a prominent member of the legendary hip-hop group Wu-Tang Clan. Known for his intricate lyricism, vivid storytelling, and gritty delivery, Raekwon has left an indelible mark on the rap genre.
Raekwon gained widespread recognition with the release of Wu-Tang Clan's debut album, "Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers)," in 1993. His contributions to the album, particularly on tracks like "C.R.E.A.M." and "Can It Be All So Simple," showcased his lyrical prowess. Wu-Tang Clan's innovative approach to lyricism and production had a profound impact on the hip-hop landscape.
In 1995, Raekwon released his solo debut, "Only Built 4 Cuban Linx...," often referred to as the "Purple Tape" due to its distinctive cassette color.
