New Boyz was an American hip-hop duo consisting of rappers Earl "Ben J" Benjamin and Dominic "Legacy" Thomas. Formed in 2009, the duo gained widespread attention with their breakout single "You're a Jerk," which became a viral hit and contributed to the emergence of the "jerkin'" dance trend.
The New Boyz's debut album, "Skinny Jeanz and a Mic" (2009), featured a mix of West Coast hip-hop and dance-pop elements. Apart from "You're a Jerk," other notable tracks from the album include "Tie Me Down" featuring Ray J and "Dot Com."
Following the success of their debut, New Boyz released the album "Too Cool to Care" in 2011, which featured singles like "Backseat" featuring The Cataracs and Dev. The album showcased their evolution in sound, incorporating elements of pop and electronic music.
While the duo gained attention for their catchy and energetic tracks, they also faced criticism for their unconventional fashion sense, particularly their promotion of skinny jeans, which was considered a departure from traditional hip-hop fashion at the time.
