Los Tigres del Norte is a Mexican norteño band from San José, California. The group was started by Jorge Hernández, his brothers, and their cousins. They began recording after moving to Mexico in the late 1960s and gained popularity with their social commentary and storytelling songs. Their hits include "Contrabando y Traición," "La Puerta Negra," and "La Jaula de Oro." They are known for their narrative ballads, often focusing on social issues like drug trafficking and immigration. Los Tigres del Norte have won numerous awards and are considered one of the most influential norteño bands.
