Recently inducted into the 2024 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, they remain the most sampled R&B band in history.

Discovered by George Clinton, Zapp released their debut in 1980, achieving platinum success with the hit More Bounce to the Ounce. Roger Troutman’s innovative talkbox vocals and the group's moog basslines profoundly shaped West Coast hip-hop, sparking hits like 2Pac’s California Love.
Sugarhill Gang with Furious 5
Formed in Englewood, New Jersey in 1979, The Sugarhill Gang helped take hip-hop from the block party to the world stage with their landmark single “Rapper’s Delight.” Widely recognized as the first rap song to achieve major mainstream success on the pop charts, the record introduced hip-hop to global audiences and remains one of the genre’s most important cultural milestones.
Joining them, The Furious Five helped define hip-hop’s voice and legacy through groundbreaking records like “The Message.” As part of Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five, they became the first rap group inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2007 and were later honored with a GRAMMY Lifetime Achievement Award in 2021.
