Funked Around & Found the Groove — featuring Bootsy Collins & Zapp
Funked Around & Found the Groove is a limited experience built around Bootsy Collins’ new memoir Funked Around, Found Out, bringing Bootsy and Zapp together for an evening of stories, funk history, audience conversation and music.
Bootsy shares firsthand memories from his journey through James Brown, Parliament-Funkadelic and beyond, while Zapp brings the Troutman legacy and the stories behind a sound that helped shape generations of R&B and hip-hop. Bootsy Collins does not perform musically and appears exclusively for the storytelling, book, Q&A and audience experience.
The musical celebration can be tailored to the venue, with options including a DJ Funk House Party, Slapbak live, a full Zapp concert, or Zapp featuring Tuxedo. The experience also supports Bootsy’s 10,000-book pre-sale campaign through opportunities such as VIP experiences, book-and-ticket bundles, signed books, group purchases and sponsorships.
With a multi-generational audience spanning longtime funk fans and younger listeners discovering the music through sampling, streaming and social media, the experience gives venues a flexible way to celebrate the music, the stories and the history behind them.

Bootsy Collins is funk in full color. From his formative work with James Brown to his rise with Parliament-Funkadelic and Bootsy’s Rubber Band, he transformed the bass into a lead voice and built a persona unlike anyone before him. His sound, style, and imagination continue to echo across hip-hop, R&B, rock, and electronic music, securing his place as one of funk’s defining architects.
Zapp
Few artists have shaped modern music like Zapp. Led by the legendary Roger Troutman, the group revolutionized funk with their signature talkbox sound and timeless hits including “More Bounce to the Ounce,” “Computer Love,” and “Dance Floor.” Their influence can be heard throughout hip-hop and R&B, with samples and collaborations spanning generations—from Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre to 2Pac’s iconic “California Love.”
