The Rude Boys originated in Cleveland, Ohio, and the group's original lineup included Joe N Little III, Larry Bingo Marcus, and Edward Buddy Banks. They signed with Atlantic Records and released their debut album, "Rude Awakening," in 1990.
The Rude Boys gained attention with their smooth harmonies and soulful sound. The album featured the hit single "Written All Over Your Face," which became a chart-topping success and remains one of their most well-known songs. The ballad's romantic lyrics and the group's vocal delivery contributed to its popularity.
Following the success of "Written All Over Your Face," the Rude Boys released their second album, "Rude House," in 1992. The album included tracks like "Are You Lonely for Me" and "My Kinda Girl." While it received positive reviews, it did not replicate the commercial success of their debut.
The group faced some challenges, including changes in the lineup and a hiatus. Despite these difficulties, the Rude Boys continued to perform and release music over the years. However, they did not achieve the same level of mainstream success as their early years.
The Rude Boys' impact on the R&B scene of the early 1990s is remembered for their contribution to the genre's romantic balladry. "Written All Over Your Face" remains a nostalgic favorite, reflecting the smooth and soulful sound that characterized the group's music.
