Regina Belle was born on July 17, 1963, in Englewood, New Jersey. She displayed an early interest in music and began singing in the Baptist church where her father was the choir director. Belle's talent was evident from a young age, and she later attended Rutgers University with a major in music.
In the mid-1980s, Regina Belle began her professional music career, initially recording under the name Regina Richardson. She gained attention for her vocal prowess and was soon signed by Columbia Records. Her self-titled debut album, "All by Myself," was released in 1987 and included the hit singles "So Many Tears" and "Show Me the Way."
