Montell Du'Sean Jordan was born on December 3, 1968, in Los Angeles, California. He grew up in a musical family and attended Pepperdine University in Malibu, California. Before pursuing a career in music, Jordan briefly worked for the Los Angeles Lakers as a Victory Coordinator, responsible for playing music during games.
In 1995, Montell Jordan released his debut album, "This Is How We Do It," which featured the title track as its lead single. "This Is How We Do It" became a massive hit, topping the Billboard Hot 100 and earning Jordan widespread acclaim. The song's success contributed to the album's popularity, making it a commercial success and establishing Jordan as a prominent figure in the R&B and hip-hop scenes of the mid-1990s.
Following the success of his debut, Montell Jordan released several more albums, including "More..." (1996), "Let's Ride" (1998), and "Get It On... Tonite" (1999).
