Frankie Beverly, born Howard Beverly on December 6, 1946, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, formed the band Maze in 1970. Originally known as Raw Soul, the group underwent a name change to Maze featuring Frankie Beverly, reflecting Beverly's central role as the lead vocalist and primary songwriter.
