BIOGRAPHY
Enchantment was formed in Detroit, Michigan, in 1967. The original members included Emanuel "EJ" Johnson, Joe "Jobie" Thomas, Bobby Green, David Banks, and Edgar "Mickey" Clanton. The group initially went by the name The Set-Tones and later changed to Enchantment when they signed with Roadshow Records in the mid-1970s.
In 1976, Enchantment released their self-titled debut album, which included the hit single "Sunshine." The song became a chart-topping R&B hit and established Enchantment as a promising new group in the soul music scene. The album showcased their harmonious vocals and smooth balladry.
Enchantment's follow-up albums, including "Once Upon a Dream" (1977) and "Journey to the Land of... Enchantment" (1979), continued to build on their success. The group's signature sound blended elements of soul, R&B, and pop, and they became known for their ability to deliver heartfelt ballads and mid-tempo grooves.
